Check out Gallagher's Menus

The Broiler has been Sacramento's definitive steakhouse since 1950, when Joe Anticevich created a very special Dinner House at 10th and J Streets. It continues to be a place where political careers begin and end, where the courthouse crowd comes to celebrate victories or nurse defeats. Always a place to see and be seen, The Broiler, with its high-back booths, remains a destination for deals and dates, anniversaries and reunions for more than five generations.
In 1962 Fred and Mary Major (owners of the Old Hickory House at 13th and J Streets) bought The Broiler for their daughter, Yvonne. In 1985 Larry and Marilou Lords purchased The Broiler and carefully updated the menu and wine list while preserving the feel and tradition of the original steakhouse. In 1998, Walter and Gloria Harvey became partners with the Lords. Marilou continued to operate The Broiler, while Larry and the Harveys opened and operated Gallagher's Bar & Grill in East Sacramento.

In 1999, The Broiler lost its lease and on October 3, 1999, after 49 years at its original site, The Broiler moved two blocks to its present location. When The Broiler moved, Gallagher's Bar & Grill was also moved to 1201 K Street, where it was reopened as Gallagher's Irish Pub. It is now the lounge for the restaurant while remaining "the closest thing to Ireland in Sacramento".
The original Broiler sign now hangs over the entry and the old leaded glass doors were moved and mounted to the sides of the entry doors. The old chandelier and light fixtures now hang in their new places. The same menu, recipes and staff, together with the stories and the memories, ensure that The "New" Broiler is still The "Old" Broiler.
